“Cofton Primary School needs your support ! !

At Cofton, we have old single glazed and draughty windows in our Infant block, with a great deal of condensation – not at all energy efficient and not good for our youngest pupils’ wellbeing. Our budget is very tight – we have a deficit budget and we don’t attract a lot of additional funding, unlike other local schools, even though we have many pupils from impoverished backgrounds. Our windows desperately need replacing in our Infant block but we just don’t have the money to do so.

In addition, we also have a number of pupils, at Cofton with complex special educational needs, such as Autism and ADHD, and also emotional needs – draughty/noisy classrooms are not good for their sensory needs or wellbeing. Our sensory room also desperately needs a double-glazed window. This is a break out area for vulnerable children who need a calm space if things get too much for them in a classroom.

Moreover, we have a building that is now 70 years old and expensive to maintain. Some of the other local primary schools in our area have had complete rebuilds or extensions paid for by the local authority – we haven’t. Even by changing just a few of the windows in our Infant block will have a massive positive impact – both for pupils and staff. We have tried to apply for energy-saving grants and loans to update our windows, but to no avail – we cannot obtain support from anywhere to do so. 

This donation would truly make a real difference to the children of Cofton – they truly deserve it.“
