A MEASURABLE STANDARD FOR HOME IMPROVEMENT - BUILDING A BETTER BIRMINGHAM
Finesse Windows has always been proud to call Birmingham our home. We have always believed that our manufactured products do more than simply look good - they fundamentally improve the underlying fabric of the homes in our city, making them safer, warmer, and more valuable. Energy-efficient improvements can also reduce heat loss and improve comfort, with the Energy Saving Trust identifying energy-efficient glazing as one way to reduce heat loss through windows and doors.
However, in an industry full of subjective promises, We wanted to prove it. The SUPERHOME concept was born from this desire. It is not just a strap line; it is a commitment to measured, verified and proven home improvement. We believe that upgrading your property shouldn't be a guessing game. It should be a proven investment that can be assessed against measurable changes in security, energy performance and property value. Ultimately, our mission is to elevate Birmingham’s housing stock to a completely new standard, stopping homes from "heating the clouds" and helping to create a safer, more prosperous city.
For homeowners asking whether energy-efficient home improvements can be measured, the answer is yes. Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) provide an established way to assess a property's energy efficiency, with ratings from A to G in England and Wales.
ESTABLISHING THE NEW STANDARD
Earlier this year, we conducted a series of pilot projects across Birmingham's diverse housing stock. We didn't mark our own homework. Instead, we partnered with independent specialists, including security assessors, EPC energy auditors, and local estate agents, to rigorously evaluate these properties both before and after our installations. These real-world projects prove that the SUPERHOME standard isn't just for multi-million-pound mansions; it is achievable for hard-working, everyday households right across our magnificent city. This independent assessment approach means the results below are based on measured changes rather than product claims alone.
THE VERIFIED RESULTS ACROSS THESE INITIAL PILOT PROJECTS
Independent assessments identified measurable improvements across three core areas: security, energy performance and property value:
Security: +50% Average Uplift Rather than simply adding locks, we identify and eradicate a home's specific vulnerabilities (its "Achilles Heel"). By installing reinforced systems, we made these homes significantly harder to break into, achieving an average 50% increase in overall security scores, based on assessments by independent security assessors.
Energy Efficiency: 8% Average Carbon Drop Independent EPC energy assessments recorded an average 8% reduction in carbon emissions across the initial SUPERHOME projects. We approach energy loss by fixing the "leaky bucket." Upgrading the underlying fabric of these properties stopped energy from leaking out, delivering an 8% average reduction in carbon emissions, equivalent to over one month of free energy annually according to the Superhomes project assessment. This result aligns with established guidance that improving windows and doors can reduce heat loss, energy bills and a home's carbon footprint. EPCs are designed to provide information about a property's energy use, typical energy costs and recommended energy-efficiency improvements.
Property Value: +8.5% Average Increase Independent local estate agents assessed an average 8.5% increase in property value across the initial SUPERHOME projects, equivalent to an average £25,000 uplift. When you buy a luxury car, it loses value the moment you drive it away. A SUPERHOME does the opposite. The Superhomes assessments also recorded that customers typically saw £1.20 added to property equity for every £1 spent on a SUPERHOME upgrade. Independent research published by the UK government has also identified a relationship between energy efficiency and residential sale prices, based on an analysis of 325,950 dwellings in England.
MEASURED. VERIFIED. PROVEN.
Begin Your SUPERHOME Blueprint: Every great transformation starts with a single building block. Whether you are looking to replace a single, vulnerable door today, or undertake a complete, whole-house installation, every Finesse frame is a step toward the SUPERHOME standard. The goal is simple: make measurable improvements to the home and use independent assessment to demonstrate the result.
