A bay on this job also gives us the opportunity to show some of the processes involved in correctly installing a load bearing bay safely, while also minimising risk of damage to your property.
On this project we used two heavy duty steel acrows to support the weight above the bay. This allows us to remove the existing bay windows without risk of any movement in the bay roof or of the interior ceiling plaster.
The old windows are removed and then the new frames are installed using adjustable bay poles. These are securely fixed and tightened between the bay roof and the solid base of the bay. Each acrow is slowly loosened to make sure there is no movement during the transfer of the weight to the new bay window poles. After this is done the bay can be trimmed and finished.
