Colmore Primary & Infant School has been shortlisted to go through to the Public Vote stage of Finesse Windows Worthy Cause 2020 campaign, here is the reason why.
“Please vote for Colmore Infant and Nursery school to win £10,000 so our run-down outdoor classroom can be bought back to life!
We have an old summer house in the playground which we want to refurbish or rebuild as an ‘ACE SPACE’ for the children to learn in again. It was once used to support art, music, science, history and drama curriculum – it was dressed up as an Anderton Shelter and a Tudor house to name a few! It provided a quiet space at playtime for our children with special educational needs. We believe every child should feel ‘ACE’ at school – Be an ‘AMAZING CONFIDENT EXPERT’ and re-developing this space will benefit hundreds of children for many years to come.
Sadly, Mother Nature has not been kind to this much loved building and found her way in; it has a leaking roof and damp interior. It has been fixed many times but can no longer be used. It is greatly missed and we would love to have it back so that imaginations can run wild again. It is also our hope that it will be a welcoming space for more than just the children.
Community is really important to us and we will to invite our local community to use this ACE space for surgeries with our family support worker; run intergenerational activities such afternoon tea with our elderly neighbours; for PTA and for other community groups.
