Installation - by end user
This is an easy to assemble product which has been designed to be installed rapidly on site by two people. It is very important that the curb onto which it is being installed is fully sealed by a competent builder or roofing contractor.

Its is very important to consider all on-site health and safety considerations before installing this product. With special consideration given to avoiding falling through the rooflight during installation.

The rooflight itself is designed to be watertight without the use of silicone seals. However, a silicone seal will be required to ‘bed’ the rooflight down onto the pre-installed upstand on the roof.

The simple to follow step by step installation instruction document can be found here - which if followed should enable any competent person to install this product safely and effectively.

We recommend that this video should be watched in conjunction with the installation instruction document as it shown clearly how these component parts fit together in the correct order. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTnRx9xKs9I

Having made the decision on the Crittal style doors to complete our home renovation we selected 3 suppliers to design and quote for our requirements. Finesse were one of the selected suppliers and upon contacting them by phone, they thought a home survey might be beneficial. The home survey by Dominic was very easy going and he was then able to provide an accurate quotation for the frame, doors and side panels. We then made an appointment to visit the Finesse showroom in Birmingham were made to feel very welcome. Dominic took a lot of time to explain the various options in design he thought would work best for our renovated home. Dominic advised the expected delivery and installation time we should expect if we went forward with Finesse. He also talked us through the process from the point of ordering, paying deposits, and the stages of their insulation teams providing ongoing updates. We went ahead with Finesse and the process was exactly the same as Dominic explained and the ongoing contact from the insulation teams providing was superb. Finesse provided a few options for the dates for the doors to be installed and were totally flexible to suit our availability. The fitters were punctual, polite and did everything possible to sheet the entire property to protect our floor, walls and furniture. They took their time to fit the Crittal doors to make sure everything was perfect and once the work was completed they took time to run through the workings, maintenance and cleaning of the doors. They took time to clear up their work area and ensured the work site was left clean and tidy. Finesse were the correct choice for our Crittal doors and we wouldn’t have any hesitation using them again, or recommending them as a reliable and trustworthy supplier.

What an experience. We ordered 11 windows from Finesse including a bay roof and some plastering. After getting quotes from several companies we choose Finesse because we thought they're a local company with a good product. They're quote was around £3k more than Amber. They started the installation mid August and estimated it'd take 3 days. The job was finished on October 30th (2.5 months). It took longer than expected for several reasons. The first was the bay roof had to be redone. The lead work was horrendous and the roof had no pitch so became a huge puddle (photos attached). Initially, they said this was normal and some pooling was expected. Shockingly we overheard the installers saying "I've never done one of these before", "Well it only has to last 6 months and we're ok". To be fair, after some complaining, Finesse completely redid the roof and admitted it was wrong. The first installers also refused to fit the lintel above the kitchen window and I quote "that's a builders job not our job". To make it easier, Finesse then offered £150 discount to change the angle iron to a flat steel which we agreed. Then when installing the flat steel lintel, the lintel was tied into the brickwork and was cut to the size of the window frame (see photo). Whilst strengthening the frame, it didn't take the weight of the bricks above. They knocked off another £50 but still insist "the lintel is fitted properly and this is how we always fit lintels". Two of the windows were too big in the frame and either are ridiculously grindy to open or just didn't open at all (unfortunately can't upload videos to this review). Again, Finesse fixed this. What took the longest amount of time was the quality of the glass. We had the front bedroom replaced 3 times. The first because it had a really glaring obviously roller pattern (see photo). The second because there were scratches on the inside of the glass. The third because there were chips on the inside of the glass (see photo). Finesse eventually brought out the window company who explained there's nothing they can do about the roller pattern. Overall, each of our interactions with Finesse were friendly and productive but we constantly felt like it was our responsibility to check they were doing their work properly. We had to remind them several times to completely finish each window including adding window caps, silicone sealant and providing keys. What I think has happened is that Finesse (who don't employ their fitters they subcontract work out), have become so popular they're subcontracting people who generally couldn't care less. Whilst still not perfect, we've accepted our windows because we don't want to drag it on any longer. [Future addition]: As highlighted and mentioned in Finesse's reply, this was NOT the final state the work was left in BUT it fully well might've been had I not been the type to complain or minded climbing up a ladder to inspect.

Finesse Windows recently replaced three upstairs windows, two in bedrooms, one in the bathroom. From start to finish the process was seamless. You deal with real people who are easy to get hold of. Nothing was too much trouble and everything ran to time. This is an excellent company, which I cannot recommend too highly.

We could not fault Finesse Windows, they were perfect from the word go. Bob listened to what we wanted, made genuinely helpful suggestions (especially for two people who know nothing about double glazing and doors) and worked within our budget to get us exactly the look we wanted. This was really important to us, as we wanted to keep the victorian-ish look of our two-up-two-down but without the huge expense of wooden windows. The company kept us fully updated throughout the process of designing, manufacturing and fitting the windows and doors we settled on, and the fitters themselves worked like absolute tigers to get the job done. We were amazed at how little mess they made and how neat the job was - with an old house, we were expecting half the plaster to come off, but we only have a couple of very neatly filled patches to repaint. We even had a follow-up visit the next day to check we were happy with everything and give us some guidance on how to care for our new windows and doors. We have never had double glazing installed before and were wary about the horror stories you hear. Our experience with Finesse was perfect from start to finish and we would wholeheartedly recommend them to others.

Roof lantern fitted by Finesse to replace a previous unit. Great service from quote to completion of the job. High quality product at a fair price, very well fitted by a polite and tidy team. You can tell the difference, looks fantastic and no more draughts! Would definitely recommend.
