At Finesse, we’ve always believed that giving young people a real opportunity to build a meaningful trade career is one of the most important things we can do. Over the last few years, we’ve welcomed around eight apprentices into the business — not because it ticks a box, but because it reflects who we are.
- We invest in talent.
- We train properly.
- We offer real-world experience.
And when one of those apprentices crosses the line from learner to fully-qualified installer — we stop and celebrate it.
🌟 Meet Macie Rostill
Macie joined us a couple of years ago as part of our apprenticeship programme — a real, government-recognised NVQ qualification in fenestration installation (that’s window and door fitting to most people).
She didn’t walk into a classroom. She walked into real jobs, real tools, real pressure, and a real team. And from day one, she grafted.
This month, we’re absolutely delighted to announce that Macie has passed all her assessments and is now a fully qualified, professional window installer.
That means she’s mastered the theory, delivered the work, and earned her status — not just with a certificate, but with the respect of the people around her.
💥 A Trailblazer in the Trade
We’re proud of every apprentice who’s come through our ranks — but Macie’s story carries something extra.
That’s because in our industry — like many in construction — female installers are still incredibly rare. And yet here she is:
- Lifting frames
- Sealing openings
- Troubleshooting on-site
- Getting hands-on with the same standards as every other fitter in our business
- And doing it all with confidence, competence, and calm
Macie isn’t just qualified — she’s trailblazing. She’s breaking the mould. And in doing so, she’s showing others — young women especially — that this trade is open, and has space for people like her to thrive.
🛠️ How We Train – Properly
We don’t believe in paper-only training. Our apprentices get theory, sure — but they also get their hands dirty.
At Finesse, we train on real sites, with real customers, under real pressure. From day one, our apprentices are shadowing experienced installers, learning the craft out in the field — not in a classroom or showroom mock-up.
They see how jobs unfold, how customers are looked after, how standards are maintained — and they learn by doing.
Training is part of our CORE. Because you can’t deliver great work unless you understand what great work looks like — inside and out.
🤝 A Thank You to Macie
This blog isn’t just here to shout about her achievement — it’s also here to say thank you.
Thank you, Macie, for choosing us. For trusting us with the start of your career. For bringing your attitude, your focus, and your energy into the team.
We don’t take that lightly. You’ve given us your time, your attention, and your effort. And we’re better for it.
🚀 Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning. Macie’s future is wide open — and we’re genuinely excited to see where it takes her. Whether that’s growing into leadership, mentoring others, developing specialist skills, or just becoming one of the most respected fitters in the region — the path is hers to shape.
All we know is: we’re proud to work alongside her.
