David and Goliath triumph for leading local Company - 15/03/2007

Setting the highest standards of energy efficiency has won Finesse of Kings Norton an accolade - which no other independent manufacturer of windows and conservatories in the Midlands has yet achieved.

Despite being one of the smallest windows and conservatory providers in the UK, Finesse’s domestic range of windows has been awarded the Energy Savings Recommended Certification mark.

This accreditation already endorses high-quality white goods, such as washing machines and refrigerators; plus high standards of efficiency also applied in the building industry.

A clearly delighted David Bown, sales and marketing director of Finesse, commented: “We have worked really hard for six months to produce a new range of windows for domestic installation which are as energy efficient as possible, while still conforming to the highest standards of security.

“We use steel reinforcement throughout our windows to make them as tough as possible. Although it would have been easier to pass the stringent tests required by the British Fenestration Rating Council if we had removed some of this steel, we weren’t prepared to compromise on security to obtain this accreditation.”

Security

Security is an imperative for Finesse, so much so that they are helping the West Midlands police with their security centre at Brownhills. The community safety house next door to Brownhills police station has been fitted with Finesse products – all part of a police drive to explain to the public the security standards they should be aiming at when fitting replacement doors and windows in their homes.

Under the managing directorship of David Bridge, Finesse manufactures its products at the Kings Norton factory, which also had to be assessed for the energy efficiency accreditation by the BMTRADA company.

Finesse uses five chamber PVCu section, Ultraframe roofing systems, Guardian glass and Edgetech super spacer in their products. They have won two awards for customer service and also the prestigious Conservatory Fabricator of the Year in 2005, when presenting the award Paul Lindsey described the company’s manufacturing standards of service as “second to none in the country”.

“Quality is important”
So what’s next for this dynamic company? “Getting the message across to people, including the Government, that quality is very important”, stressed David Bown.

“We have to educate householders that security and energy efficiency matter. Buying the cheapest product you can find is a false economy. Our ten-year guarantee is exactly that – something you can’t say about every company in this business!”

Finesse has come a long way in 26 years, says David Bridge, he added “It’s a small family business, putting the customer first has always been our way and we know we can only continue to succeed if we set the highest standards of customer service, this new product endorses our commitment to do this”
