Flooring options

It’s very important to consider building under-floor heating or plumbing for conservatory radiators into your design. This will ensure that the floor contributes to the overall heating solution in your conservatory – especially if you have a tiled floor which can become very cold under foot.

Heating
Depending on the size of the conservatory and its intended use it may be necessary to consider adding some extra kind of heat source to the new space. This can be done by using a conservatory radiator (as long as it can be turned off independently to the other radiators in your house) or by installing an air conditioning system. An air conditioning system is particularly useful because it can then be used in the Summer months to help keep the conservatory cool.

Roof design
We insist on using Ultraframe roofs because in our opinion they are by far the best available in many ways, including their ability to retain heat in the conservatory. They are also designed to help the conservatory breathe which is crucial during the warmer Summer months, especially in South facing conservatories.

Glazing options
We recommend using heat retaining solar control glass which again is very good at keeping the radiated heat in during Winter and reflecting the sun’s heat out during Summer. <embed reflex glass video>

Shades
Another good way to keep more heat in during Winter and reducing glare and heat build up during the Summer is by incorporating Shades into your roof design. They also have the added benefit of providing an excellent level of privacy if you are concerned about being overlooked by neighbours. <embed Ultraframe shades video>

Once we understand your requirements we can advise on the best mix of these options to give you a room that is useable all year round.
